Shakespear cat
That is a very interesting boat I raced against it a couple of times in 1.3ltr
it was a good sea boat in its day but was run on a low budget and engine was unreliable. With a good engine it would have been very competative.
I think it was raced by the son of owners of Lancing marine (Bellamy) I may be wrong it was a long time ago.
The guys from lancing marine were experimenting with Norton rotory engines the years before.

The cat raced by Lawrence Bellamy (lancing marine connection & Lozza on here) wasn't the Shakespeare, it was an old stapely.
the one you have is probably the lorne campbell designed one that Francis Whitley (owner of Shakespear boats) and his son raced in 1.3.
Francis browses this site from time to time, and may be able to fill in any gaps you have in it's history.
I'll drop him a line so he knows about this thread.

We raced against the Whitneys in the early 90's both Francis and Stuart his son were great guys, who even had a go at racing OCR and had 2 boats set up for OCR and Offshore.
Caw Blimey can i ask who you are ? would you happen to Be Kevin ?

Hi Kevin put two and two together and though it had to be you.
I remember the black Phantom that you used to race with the Motorhead motif painted on the front when you turned up with it for the world at Folkestone in 91, do you remember that nightclub in Folkstone called bonkers we frequented for that week ??
Sorry should reintroduce myself to you after all this time, I'm Paul I raced with Graham Atlee (splitpin) on here in the white P16 Fugazi.
Are you still in touch with gary ?

That's Shakespeare Interernational Marine 's yard in Hartlebury..Francis still resides in the buildings you can see.... former railway buildings....and the little hut on the other side of the fence is the waiting room at Hartlebury train station.....where all the sad people catch the train to the Black Country....
