I use UPS, Fantastic, there is no waiting for the release at customs for payment of vat ect you can pay when the courier brings it to your door, fast and reliable

Depends how much kit, if it's quite a bit groupage probably. Container is quite cheap now also.

Seperate parts ! Powerhead from Canada and 2 Gearboxes from Florida ! UPS want me to buy a plane. $800 to ship a V4 Gearbox.

By surface, 800 is likely air freight. Get on to local shipping broker and get a price on crate by surface. It'll take six weeks but cost about a third of that..
Last full engine I got in from US cost about 350 euro.
