Suzuki 250 ss

I see there is a four litre short shaft available pumping out 250 hp .
Anygood for some four stroke speed or too heavy then ?

I actually do quite a bit with Suzuki and really rate their engines - for the correct boat. However just wish they would do a sports version - with better gearbox ratios and sportier lower / mid units.

Quite frustrating as they have a good product at Suzuki - but seem intent on going along a very steady market path.

Weight wise it can be an issue - depends on boat being fitted to. But I think this applies to a lot of engines that are relatively new - maybe more efficient / cleaner but they are generally larger cc and heavier. Newer boats need to be designed bearing this in mind.

Interesting point that,
Dose this mean that in the near future its going to become an issue trying to find the right power plant for some old favourites like p16's and p18's ?

Allready is an issue. I've got a 2.5 efi on a P21 and would like a modern engine that put's out about 300hp and is reliable. I need it to weigh the same as my 2.5 with the same performance. Unfortunately such an engine does not exist
