Hmm read in detail.
They appear to be saying that over a hundred signatures versus 11 is a mixed reaction!!!!
In essence they seem to have gone full circle now.
Initially they stated that the new speed limit was required due to a risk assessment having highlighted a potential issue. The issue being the fast commercial operators.
So they put a temporary restriction in place for them and then stated they would put in a vessel wide limit.
Much kerfuffle, particularly from supporters of the operators, and they added that they will look to offer out exemptions to the commercial carriers.
Consultation occurs, which they blatantly want to ignore, and they come up with they will carry out a risk assessment to prove the neccessity of the new limit.
In round terms gents what they are saying is that a small craft with optimal manoeuvrability at a speed of 30 knots travelling straight up the river is inherently more danger to river users than a large craft with limited manoeuvrability travelling at the same speed usually in a direction crossing the navigable route to reach a pier.
Great isn't it?
I am in the process of drafting my spleen venting letter to Boris as we speak.
