Thanks Tony!

I took your advice Tony and I sent the following email to Livorsi.

"Hi, I am wondering if you can help me. Last year I placed an order with rickracers.com for a set of your Livorsi Series II gauges with white dials and white bezels. I placed the order in October 2006 and have not received a single item from rickracers. I have had only 3 emails from them in this time all telling me that my gauges are “ on the way “ but after 5 months I don’t believe them.
So can you please tell me if they have ordered the gauges listed here so I can at least see if they have actually been acquired from yourselves.

8000rpm tach
80mph speedo
Water pressure gauges
Water temp
Volts
Fuel level

If you can let me know if they have placed an order like this with yourself I would be eternally grateful!

Kind regards,

Robert Astley."

I just got this email from Livorsi.

"Sorry, the Livorsi II gauges you requested ship from us the same day as ordered. They must not have placed the order for them. Where are you located ??????? You could order direct from us if you are not a export customer. Thanks, Todd at Livorsi Marine."

Looks like I have been totally rippped off! I cant even get an answer on the telephone from them.

$427 which was about £250 or so when I ordered them.
Totally nothing I can do about it!

5 years or so ago rick started rickracers up. He went bad on a deal selling a boat for Barney. Everyone supported Rick, he promised to pay, blah blah blah.
As far as I know, he never cleared his debt and Barney got grief for ousting Rick - seems he was right all along.

I just got another email from Livorsi

"Rob, I tried to contact Rick Racer also and had to leave a message. I was able to check their records and they did order your gauges and they were shipped to them back on 12/07/06. What happened after that with them I could not help you with. If you did need to reorder them with someone else you would have to go to International Boating, they are contracted from us to handle ALL OF OUR EXPORT PART ORDERS. You could contact them at ibs@marine-exporter.com and they could help you with a re-order. Good luck with Rick Racer, Regards, Todd at Livorsi Marine."

I just cant get my head around it!

Got this from www.consumerdirect.gov.uk in the "after you buy" section. Might be some help.

Econsumer.gov

A complaint about an overseas internet business can be registered at www.econsumer.gov, an international consumer complaint database maintained by the US Federal Trade Commission. Your information can help the authorities to crack down on dishonest internet traders in the future. Your complaint will be accessible to participating government law enforcement agencies. Most participating agencies cannot take up individual complaints - you should carefully read how they might use your details.

The site also provides general information about consumer protection in all participating countries and contact information for consumer protection bodies in those countries.

The countries involved are Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, the USA and the UK. The econsumer site is only intended for cross-border complaints. If your complaint is about a UK online business, you should contact either the OFT or your local trading standards authority.

United States

If you have purchased goods from an American company then you could contact the ‘Federal Trade Commission’ (www.ftc.gov) or the branch of the ‘Better Business Bureau’ local to the trader (http://lookup.bbb.org)

For all other countries or territories you could consider speaking to the Embassy to ascertain who provides consumer advice or protection for that area, available on the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website.

A mate of mine said they may be held up at customs. So who can I contact in customs and can I enquire about a shipment if I dont have any details for the shipment?

Without a tracking number I think you may be beat. I had a prop from canada held for 2 months in customs, sender had almost given up to and initiated a claim against the carrier, the carrier then decided to get off its ass and track the parcel properly, ended up delivered OK about 14 days after that.
Good luck

Unfortunatly Prick Racers are ass holes and cant even be bothered to pass the shipping information on to me never mind chase the shipping company. If they really have been sent that is, from what I have been reading on S&F Rick has more than likely put my gauges in a new boat he bought himself with most he defrauded from some other poor bloke!

I might just order another set then sell the one I bought from rickracers if they ever arrive!

Just one other thought, did you pay with your credit card via paypal? If so you may be able to dispute the charge to paypal who will then in turn find a way of getting monies from rick racers for themselves. Outline to your credit card provider your case that the items had to be back ordered for you, this took 6 weeks, then shipping allow up to 4 weeks, it was then only after 12 weeks you started getting worried your good were lost in transit, now the vendor wants nothing to do with replacing the goods which are suposedly lost in transit, if your case gets a sypathetic ear at your credit card company it gets you around the 60-90 day chargeback deadline.

I paid via direct bank transfer via paypal.
Got another email today from Todd Livorsi.

"Rob, Barbara from Rick Racer just returned my call I left for her regarding your gauge order and she did ship the gauges to back in December after she received them from us. She will contact you later today about the matter. She says they are lost in the postal service and they are working on finding them. Hope this helps, let me know, Todd at Livorsi Marine."

She can get in touch with them quick enough! Lost in the post my arse! So much for the 'found in warehouse in Miami' dribble! LIES LIES LIES!

The same problem here! I have sent many emails and made many phone calls telling her that I will stop bugging her if she can provide me with proof that my parts have been shipped. You would think that if they really did send them she would just email me the shipping details so I would leave her alone!
She never contacted me yesterday like she told Todd @ Livorsi she would!
I might take Tonys advice and get autometer instead.
