It's only my opinion, but I always thought the Bonito's were the uglyest boats ever made. There's a bit of 'Fountain' in the beak.

No, bit further East than Beaulieu. If you want to know more ask OOD, more than my meagre life is worth to tell

IMVHO, it's too big for clipons.
Although, just to contradict myself, I think this sonic looks fkkn sexy - but only runs 60 with triple 200's.

You say 'only'. What would it run with a single 600hp V8 inboard??

Stilletto must have been doing close on 70mph, maybe a little more when it went past us as mentioned above as we were maxed in the Flippin Eck Cruiser @ 67mph. Well, that was what our speedo said and it was pretty close to being right as our endless speed trials in Soton water proved. Both boats were low on fuel though as we were near the end of the CTC race. It would be interesting to hear what the previous owner has to say about it's speed in the old days. Can't understand why the Sonic is so slow. Agreed it does look good.

I think when Alan Webb ran the flipper at Windermere, with a new pair of Pro V 200 Yams, it did 62mph

He did? That was slow. Of course I can't dispute that Jon but we did hours of runs with various props on the measured mile on Soton waters and the results were as I said earlier using choppers. Because of the design at the rear end of the Flipper it did need a a bit of a "sea chop" to make it work, Knowing Webby he would have done everything possible to go as fast as possible so I am flummoxed. Anything to do with the difference between fresh and salt water or am I grabbing at straws? The reason JB purchased the original Flipper was because of the "quoted" design speed by the designer/manufacturer Sigurd Isacsson of I think around 65mph with twin 200hp Yammy's. I will have to see if I still have the original leaflet. It's all academic I guess as it was all a long time ago.
