tow vehicle??
at the moment im choppin the trusty vitara in as i found out im well over its recomeneded tow weight
want a pickup truck
so its either a toss up between a 90 pick
or a hi-lux
any one had any experience with either and could advise which way to go

You can't go wrong with a Hi-Lux, just ask top gear. A friend of mine has had one for years, they never die. Plenty guts for towing too.

Hi-Lux
Hi-Lux would be my choice by far, we have had loads!, only thing to watch out for is very light on the rear end, as my dad knows when the trailer lifted the rear up and fliped it on its roof!
That slowed him down a bit i can tell ya!
But Hi-Lux deff

bloody hell
doubt it will be to light in the rear end
plan to put the jet ski in there
seems like the hi-lux certainly is above the 90
any probs apart from the light rear end to look out for??
also which engine is best, and dont say v8

v8
Haha, yes we did have a v8 one too!, we saw one at a place called Transatlantic supertrucks a long, long time ago!, so we built one way back in the early 90's, was great fun!, just eat gearboxes tho
The newer turbo diesel 2.4 is the way to go, if your ever this way drop in and take one of ours for a run, see what you think.

This is my new tow vehicle.......
4.0l straight six turbo charged, ooooh yeah!
Mind you petrol has just hit $1.50 p/l now so it's hiting a bit harder, but who cares.
Hi Lux is the go.
Can you get the Nissan Navara in the UK, pull ya boat and a spare trailer and a tree down at the same time.
Enjoy shopping.

The longer the wheel base the better for long distance and the shorter the wheelbase is better for local towing and manouvering. You really have to make ya own decision as to what you'll be doing most of. A hilux wouldnt be my first choice as they are light on the rear end and as dodgydan says they can get abit lively.

probobly wont be towing much moe than 100-150 miles in more than one go
ive been lookin at the navara but a little out of me price range
mum spartner is a landrover specialist, with his own garage etc, so hence im swayed a lil to the 90, but the hilux so far seems to be winning hands down
going to look at a 90 and a hi lux this week so ill let you know how i get on

You sure about that? It was $0.62 a litre at xmas in Virginia! 1 US Gallon = 4.52L
Still, £0.31 is not expensive - try £1.04 ($2.08L / $9.36Gal) !
