Trim and tilt issues

Hi guys, I have an old mercury 200hp black max late 80s early 90s. The problem I'm having is when I trim engine up it drops down by its self pretty quickly, does not seem to be any leakage from any of the seals on the trim unit. Does have a slight hesitation on going up when you start to trim.
Can anyone help as I'm beat
Thanks

I had pitting in the ram rods and water got into the oil. Then took a while for pressure to build for the trim to work. New rams and caps sorted it the first year.
