100% they do.
You will also lose a bit of speed with the tabs down tho.
Is the boat set up corrertly to start with?
What boat and motor set up do you have.

look cyco

this is d boat and motor, moto is shifted 1.75 inches to the driver side.

Where is the battery placed in the boat, and how is it fixed.
What steering do you have in the boat.
Could you take another photo of the rear of the transom at the bottom with a stright edge running towards the front of the gearbox, this will help to see what height you are running the engine at.

Do you have a remote oil tank as well, if so where is that in the boat.
Where is the fuel tank and what size is it.
