Unlucky or Not ?
How many here have renamed a boat ?
I renamed the last one to "Foolish" after that everything that could go wrong DID !!
I now have a new toy but i don't think i can put up with the name "Knee Trembler" (explain that to the kids
How real is this ceremony ?

I inquired about this for my phantom! The thing with the traditional way of doing it where you have to get rid of all info on the previous name is hard, especially if its previously been a race boat like my phantom was! I was told that if you write the name or previous names on the inside of the boat somewhere its then ok to rename it! Myself being superstitious and having no luck with previous boats either done this and then renamed my boat and raced it with no probs at all! But some people say ypu make your own luck and that its all crap! Ya gotta make your own mind up really!

Hey, yeah!
Go with the ceremony and have a party at the same time! 'More things in Heaven and Earth' and all that. Donald Campbell believed strongly in good and bad luck. Not that 'Mr Woppit' and his Bluebird - engraved Dunhill lighter and St Christopher did the poor old boy much good in the end of course, but who knows, maybe he would have been history long before had he not taken them along, eh?
Not sure I'd be able to fit many guests in a 16 foot Phantom myself though.
Do you think Poseidon likes Guinness? I hate Champagne.

Most of the ceremony is OK, but where do i find a "Virgin" (female) willing to pee on my Bow and in the Bilge...
perhaps "Knee Trembler " would be appropriate after all

My dad says it is OK to rename the boat PROVIDED: You pull her out the water, first remove all the old name points/books/logs etc.
Then rename it, pour some form of alchohol on the bow and relaunch.
The boat must dryout between name changes.

I fished with a load of charter skippers over the years in Ireland, the proper way to do it was just a small name plaque on the inside of the cabin with the original name

Hayley Finch, she probably ain't a virgin, but she looks like the kind of girl who'd piss on your boat!

The teddy bear was the only one that got out of it unscathed! The chase boat found Mr Woppit floating on the surface over the crash site.
'You're never alone with a Woppit'
Yep. Add a teddy bear to the list of bits we need....

We had a 'Windermere Woppit' tie-wraped to the dash of our race Extreme, if the boat went down, that little fkkr was going with it!

You never know - tie wrapping the boat onto him might have kept it afloat!
