The mud makes it all the more fun!

Southend will have a static display and this will in future form part of a larger water festival. More news on that when it is formalised.

The organisers are inviting all who are interested to bring their boats into Wood Wharf and be part of the fleet down. Minimal cost as the wharf is booked but I have to organise lock openings.

At the moment we have a half a dozen coming from Wallasea and a fleet of ribs from Belgium and a few odd ones that I have picked up from elsewhere. That's just what I know of at the moment but basically the more the merrier.

The likelihood is that we will have a lock on the Wednesday and Thursday for this. We need to know who and what in advance to organise fuel in addition to raceboats so if we can compile a list here that would help.

Anybody that needs more info feel free to ask or PM.

For those that have been asking about London, attached is a draft site layout for our great Wood Wharf venue in the heart of London Docklands.

Surrounded by skyscrapers and 110,000 people all looking to be entertained ...this is a dream venue for our event. Inside in our event marquee we'll have numerous bars, and outside we'll have food & beverage (f&b) stands offering gourmet fish & chips, baguette & deli, Goodwood Organics, luxury ice-cream, tea & coffee, and much more.

Aside from our own Venture Cup fleet we've invited other powerboat racing classes to freely use our event to promote their own activities so you can expect to see some additional boating eye-candy on site.

For the Prologue we're NOT going to have any private entertaining areas as we want to keep our event as open to the public as possible. Our main boat park will be access controlled behind low security gates, but other than that we want to get as many people in around this event as we can.

If you're not racing this year we'd still love to see you involved. There are a number of ways you can do this:
- bring your boat up to West India Quay and moor it alongside the Event Village (you can also avail of the cheaper than normal fuel prices!)
- bring yourself up and help as a volunteer ...we'll give you a high-vis jacket and send you out into the main raceboat display area to tell the public all about powerboat racing
- bring yourself up and just enjoy the experience ...this is the first outing for the Venture Cup and it's something we fully intend to see grow and evolve over the coming years. Come along and be a part of it right from the start.

What you need to do is launch a few days earlier and come up to Wood Wharf with the rest of us. Your opportunity to run with the fleet down the Thames and you want to turn it down?

So, why is this information not on your main posting about the prologue you are running? Very confusing for those of us trying to find even the smallest bit of information.

Not sure what you find confusing. SS started this thread to chat to other locals regarding meeting on the water.

As Aidan has pointed out if you want to join in on the water you would be more than welcome to come along with us, whether that is outside or inside the wharf.

See my offer above, if you want more info on that just PM me.

If you just want to do the wharf by land then as Aidan says the event is open to the public completely.

Southend Pier is in the hands of Southend Council who are just starting to publicise.

If there is anything else I can help you with specifically then fire away and I'll try to help you out.

Be good to see the posse again! Are you bringing the Sunseeker up to the pits? We should be there on Thursday for the start of the festivities.

Hi John,

Bringing the Sunny up and also the Revenger if the new engine turns up this Wednesday!

There's about a dozen mixed boats going up that I am organising, everything from 16 to 46 foot. There's also a band of around 10 ribs coming in from Belgium. Our plan is to lock in Thursday lunchtime and I'll have the beer on ice ready to receive you. Just hope I don't come in on fire this time!

I was simply asking why Blimp hasn't posted the information on his own thread. As well.

...because, as Kerry noted, I was responding to a conversation on this thread about people getting to see activities in London. The details for Wood Wharf have already gone out to everyone via our group email list, our facebook page and the news section of our website. More details will be pushed out as we get closer to the event through all the above, here and the media.

As a more direct question for Worsforwear.

Will you be supporting the race in any way at all?

I and others have found the organisers to be extremely welcoming and grateful of any support received.
