Hi All,
Been using carbon cheetah as a platform for designing the mounting brackets and main wing for red cheetah, this will comprise of a straight section over the cockpit with the profile of the front wing added to each side making quite a large efficient lifting surface.

looking good! good to see progress. like the idea of the wing. i am supprised you are using timber and not an exotic material to make the wing mounting structure.....

wings,in my opinion,could make or break the project.there arent many boats that look good with them,again just my thoughts

Hi Carl,
Whilst aesthetics are not totally unimportant the main goal has been to design wings with a very good lift to drag ratio large enough to make a real difference, light enough so that you don't rob too much of the lift generated and strong enough to stand the rigours of rough offshore waters.The front wing is mounted around 2ft clear of the deck so that i can see underneath and is adjustable in angle of attack so can be used for lift and downforce driver operated, rear wing is fixed.

I would be worried about catching the ends of the wings every time I went alongside anything.

Granted docking will be slightly more of a challenge especially round tall piles but the potential for gain far out ways this small inconvenience.

Hi Winderian,
Yes the wings are prototypes for carbon cheetah but as carbon cheetah is at least 1.3 tons lighter and much faster i should be able to get the desired effect with much smaller wings.

Hi all,
Have now removed the engines ready to install the rigging that is awkward to get at with the engines in situ this will include bilge pumps, hydraulic manifolds and pipework and some of the wiring, engine bay will then receive it's final coat of paint before the engines are refitted. Also made the titanium power steering oil coolers that double as water transfer pipes.

Hi all,
Made loads of progress... Bonded a piece of carbon fibre into the lightweight dashboard which i have now cut to fit a pair of garmin screens so it will be very similar to Carbon Cheetah, also installed trim pumps, electric and mechanical bilge pumps and some of the steering hoses should get the engines back in next weekend.

Completed the awkward to get at rigging behind the engines and reinstalled them, also pretty much finished the dash just needs the carbon face laquering.

Hi Fritz,
We have been in America for the past month playing with boats in the nice warm weather however back to reality now(: so getting on with parts for Cheetah, today i drilled all the mounting holes for the new lightweight dash assembly these will have captive nuts bonded inside as the navigation screens have to be fitted to the dashboard first which means you can't get to the other side.
