What prop?
Can anyone advise what prop I should try on my Extreme 21? I'm running a 3 blade 21 pitch (which is what TD recommended), although I think the prop is a bit crap (Vengence)?
What have people tried with their Ext. 21's?
Also, can anyone tell me what gear ratio I have? (5.7 EFI) and what my WOT rev limit should be?
Thanks.

It all depends on what you intend to do with the boat. For all out speed, I would reckon a 23" mirage plus would be the best option, for skiing and hauling fat chicks, a 21" mirage plus.
Gear ratio is 1.5:1, and the max revs are probably 4800.

You have to wonder how the boat managed to stay afloat.

I wasn't planning on taking out any birds that are too fat, I draw the line at about 16 stone ...
It's already got some stress cracks ...

Is 16 stone the point at which a bird is classed as fat? Surely there should be some kind of formula based on a height/belly/breast size ratio?

Tony, thought it was a lifetime warranty ?? thats why we stopped buing you burgers when you sold us RedMist!!
re the props.... i thought 4 bladers (barvo 1)had pretty much replaced 3 bladers fro all round performance..... there is some prop slip when you nail the hammers on Red or Dead with the 3blade vengenance...
does a 4 blade give you more bow lift or stern lift over a 3 blade? and really which lift is better in a 21 extreme ??

there's the problem, too much thinking and not enough listening!!!!! 3 blade mirage plus is the most suitable prop on a 21, and a 4 blade bravo 1 on a 24........The end!

I think they retail for around £450, you can buy one from Neil at Marinautic in Cobbs Quay, they may even have one in stock!

Tony, how come Elvis ended up with a 21 vengence and 4 blade mach1 prop?
but what is the answer to bow or stern lift, between the mirage and bravo1 ??
why is the 4 blade better on the 24 than 21ft??
Biggest Arms, post it as wanted on the forum.... you may as well try and flog the 2 you have as well!!
have u checked boatsandoutboards and boatsforsale classified

The boat was supplied to Elvis with a Mirage, but I guess he's just another who wasn't happy with what we chose, and thought he could do better, sounds like he didn't!!!!!
The 24 Mach sterndriver is an excellent prop on a 24, we used to supply them until they went bust! For some reason the 24 suffers from very bad cavititation when fitted with a 3 blade prop, but is fine with 4 blades!
As to whats best for bow lift, I've always thought a Mirage was, but I'm happy to be proved wrong. Perhaps this from Merc will go some way to explaining it!

For a cheap mirage 21, it's worth visiting a few boat jumbles! Always seems to be some for sale.
