Angry Where is Tramantana

Does anyone know where the original Tramantana is, the one with four engines. Sorry about the mispelling of David Hagen's name in WOP's Basildon Museum feature....I still think its spelt with an O

I think that Tim Powell still has it down on the Med somewhere, I will ask him and come back to you.

Talked to Tim, Tramentana 2 had four Jaguar engines and he sold it to a German some 25yrs ago so he thinks it's in Germany somewhere.

Golden Oldies

Thanks OldMan - I keep getting asked where various golden oldies are but Tramantana 2 topped the list. I believe 'Blue Moppie' has Tim Powell connections. She's at the Basildon Museum and I understand she is going to be turned upside down and used as a roof for a picnic area.

TRAMONTANA
The original Tramontana with 2 CRM PETROL engines of 1000 hp total (ISOTTA FRANCINI) that was raced by Dick Wilkins in 1962 was rumoured to have been sold as a motor patrol boat to a Middle Eastern country, this was never confirmed by the yachting press at the time unfortunately so her whereabouts is a mystery unless Graham can shed any light on the matter, TRAMONTANA 2 with 4 Jaguars raced in 63 by Dick Wilkins and Tommy Sopwith was raced over the next few years by a selection of noted racers including Norman Barclay and Tim Powell. She originally had a full cabin but was then raced in open cockpit form , after her racing years finished she was shortened and fitted with inboard outboard drives ,Mercruisers, and the original cabin refitted. She had an eventful sinking in Chichester harbour where she was kept after striking a wreck but was recovered after that history is vague but I remember seeing her at Cowes during the CTC of either 70 or 71 can't remember which. Both were such fantstic boats shame they are not still around, unless someone knows something and is not telling!
