World Water Speed Record

Thunderbirds are GO!!! Here´s a link to the American effort. Kind of weird looking. Good luck to them.

Whilst on the subject, am I alone in thinking that the design of such a craft to break this record need not be so intricate? I would have thought (and I admit from the outset I know diddly squat about hull design etc) that since Dave Scott and Mike Tomlinson have already gone over 200mph in a cat, that to beat the 317mph record in a simple cat design is not beyond the realms of possibilty. How about a 46´ cat with 4 turbines?? The physics would presumably imply that the main problem is keeping the craft from taking off. Up for discussion!!!

Mr.Warby would say that getting the physics wrong is what kills you.
Also he would say that his friend ,Dave Scott has a far better chance of breaking the speed record than Mr. "I am the Greatest"Wicks.
Anybody can draw up a design with a computor and dazzle the media with "Geek Talk",but it takes more than a model in a bathtub to get past 317.60mph.
If Wicks ever builds a REAL boat, and thats a big "IF", then we will see "IF" he can open his throttle as wide as his mouth.

Blowtorch, it is indeed an honour to have you on our forum!

I had the pleasure of meeting Ken Worby at the Worlds in Key West last November - he said he couldn't see any point in beeting his own record and risking life and limb, so he's waiting for someone to break it first - then he'll have a go!!

It'll be intersting to seee if new technology can help since the record is 20 odd years old now. But why the seventies porn music in the clip?
