xr2 or bridgeport

hi lads ive just been informed that my engine ,that i believe to be a 2.4 bridgeport 225 hp, is an xr2 200hp, can any one tell me what they reckon, and if it is an xr2 is this better ,cheers reece

Would it be possible to look in the spark hole with a torch and see the bridge on the port? If not, sould you borrow a bore scope to have a look. That'd be prety definative. Different generations of motor look pretty different!

Edit: Surely someone/google could tell you from the serial nomber couldn't they?

Phil, the pics you posted show 2.4 and 2.5 blocks. All a 2.0 is is a sleeved down 2.4/2.5 so not sure if it will help distinguish the XR2.

If the XR2 was only available after 1990 then chances are its a sleeved down 2.5 so then you could tell from block casting but if it was available in older then ????

What are the numbers on the carbs?
