Politics starting to creep in instigated by “certain” people. Inevitable I suppose as we experienced all that in the RB08. Hate it though as it is so time consuming having to counteract these “moves”. Why people have to do this I just can’t understand but anyway, we move onwards and upwards, there is a race to organise and run.
Last deposits starting to flood in, some Teams need a further prod as these last deposits must be in by the 1st March otherwise penalty’s will be implemented!!

Web site will begin to change now as demand increases. We are beginning to need information from the race teams with regard to crew and boat pics so those attending the March briefing will be asked to provide this info asap.
As space at the briefing is limited, it will be only for the race teams, race officials and certain invited members of the press and marine media.

The venues are starting to shape up. We now have race veteran (won the CTC in 1972 with Carlo Bonomi) Mike Mantle on board to help with all the French ports with assistance of Tony & Dawn Lewis. Such a relief as I find the French very difficult to deal with especially when they don't speak English! Fortunately Mike does, very well.
We also now have a Spanish Gentleman on board who will be working with Alan and myself looking after all 5 Spanish ports. Primarily his responsibilities will be to work with the Police in every Town and also the Coast Guards, the fact that he is Spanish will help us enormously when we arrive in these ports. Working with the Spanish Police will be essential when moving some 20 low loaders and 30 cars and trailers through every town. That’s a major exercise in itself so he is very welcome.
The jigsaw is starting to take shape.

With only one week to go there are still a few teams who have yet to pay their next part deposit - due by the 1st March. If we have not received that payment by date due we will have to assume that you have decided not to take part in this great race - for whatever reason - and we will then have to allow those on reserve, who have paid, to take your place! Any questions - contact us - details on web site.

We have lost a lot of teams but fortunately we had enough in reserve to take up the slack! About a handful still to pay. Still on 50 for the line and now we are beginning to have even more enquiries!!
Story of the week is that Nick Wilkinson has found the old winning boat of the 1972 London to Monte-Carlo- HTS No 858 and is now in the process of completely rebuilding her with new engines and has entered her in the Historic Class of this great race. What a moment that will be seeing it come to the start line at Cowes 40 years on and how emotional will it be if it finishes in Monaco? My money is on it doing just that.o

Another long range boat
One of the latest teams (from Denmark) to have entered this great race. see http://www.copenhagenracingteam.com/theraceboat.html - Triple engined 47 footer. Cruises at 70 tops out at 85mph. Great long range boat.

Yesterday was "interesting" at the RYA. Good meeting though and at least the Race Briefing can go ahead and the CMC 2013 race is now legal. For a while my colleagues Alan Goodwin and our new sponsor Paul Norris sat on me to keep me quiet but not for long! As usual and as always in these matters a compromise was reached and things got sorted.
Now all that is out of the way we can move on. We have to meet all the Venues all over again in May & July to confirm so much detail, this time to be done all by car.

Disappointing to hear today that we have lost Team Vroom Vroom - Vee and Gareth. They are one of the last teams I would have thought that would back out. Great boat too.

No idea yet James, we have the full listing of all the teams on the web site under "Competitors" but they are still building/buying/rigging boats right now and some haven't got their full crews together so it's early days. We will be doing just what you ask though round about June as and when we get the info.
