Another big week for all of us on here in the Venture Cup (not that any of them are small any more!). Lots of meetings over the coming days to move things even further along. The past 2 months have brought continued positive results and success for the race ...and while we sadly can't share many of them just yet ..you can be assured that everything is right on track, and in many areas even better than we could have hoped for. We're hoping to have some pretty awesome pieces of news to reveal over the coming weeks and you'll hear about it first here in the 'pits'.

12 experienced, dedicated, unpaid, smart people (The Cowes Monte-Carlo Race Committee) all working together yesterday for several hours trying to ensure the logistics of this great race will work. All being done so that 50 crazy race teams can buzz around Europe for 15 days in June of next year and have a great time!! Nearly everyone on this Committee work full time so I have to say a huge thank you to them for taking time out and helping us make this race happen. We have taken another step foward in the development of this massive race, and it is massive!

One of our Venture Cup entries for the Cowes to Monte-Carlo race next June - Dag Rasmussen - has just won the prestigeous 144 mile SkagerakAcross race from Norway to Denmark and back in his twin engined Goldfish RIB. One of our other lower powered Venture Cup entries, Gordon Compton from the UK, came 2nd overall, a fantastic result for such a low powered boat but then Gordon always goes flat out! Good one Gordon! The race teams are starting to get themselves set for the Big One next year.

The Venture Cup 2013 Race Trophies are now listed on the front page of the web site. There will be a few more yet no doubt.
Anyone wanting to sponsor one of these special Trophies should PM me. As promised, the Annie Beakhust Trophy will be the "Progress in Adversity Cup".

Totally agree - with the last part that is. I have been sitting behind a desk for the last 18 months organising this race and still have 10 more to go!

New Race Boat
And another Venture Cup - Cowes to Monte-Carlo raceboat appears. Some images have just arrived in from 'Construction Racing' on their new boat being purposely built for the Venture Cup. The 32ft hull has been designed by Adam Younger and topsides/cockpit by Marcus Bradshaw. Full support from Honda incorporating their new 250hp outboards.
More information coming out shortly on this team and their 2012 projects before the Big One next year.

We are seeking a third Motor Cruiser to join our existing team as a sweep boat during this epic race in June of 2013 – see www.ventureoffshorecup . It must be at least 46ft in length and capable of 30 knots minimum. The Owner must be prepared to take in tow any race boat that is in serious distress and need of help and take it to the nearest Port during the race. You will be out at sea for many hours as many of the race legs are 250 miles+.
That’s the bad news, the good news is that you will be entitled to join in all the fun before the race in Cowes, during the race at every venue and after the race in Monte-Carlo and be a serious part of our overall race team.
Anyone interested please get in touch with me at mike@ventureoffshorecup.com and I will provide further details. This is a once in a lifetime chance to join in on what is going to be the greatest offshore powerboat race for over 40 years – The Venture Cup - the destination Monte-Carlo!

The Usual Suspects
Very amusing to have, today, listened to a recording of the "Usual Suspects" making fools of themselves running down the Cowes/Monte-Carlo race next year - at, of all places, the Royal Yacht Squadron CTC Prize Giving Party.
Egg on their faces Big Time when it takes off with the biggest fleet seen for years at that same spot next year.
Mobile phones are SO handy!

Moving on
Just received a pic of the latest creation from Goldfish. This is their eagerly awaited 48ft Cruiser that will take part in the Cowes to Monte-Carlo Race next year. Some Cruiser and with it's power plants will be VERY fast!

Am off on Sunday to meet with all seven of the Spanish and Portuguese Venues once again and their many various Mayors and Tourists boards etc etc. Having to drive approx 300 miles every day but it has to be done so that we can confirm that they will be ready to receive the 50 strong fleet next year. We are effectively having to set up a Cowes/Torquay/Cowes event at every venue but moving a bit faster than that plus moving 30 people from race control every day to the next venue. You could call it a bit of a challenge and of course the race teams have the same problem.
This great race now has it's own momentum and is unstoppable. It WILL take place next year as planned regardless of the silly rumours that are swirling around right now (deja vous RB08!) but I doubt that it will ever happen again! Maybe in another 40 years. Back in 10 days.

CMC Venture
Forgive me if this is a stupid question but dock talk at CTC prompts it. Para 1.3 of the CMC regs states that crew can be between min of 2 and max of 6 aboard. Quite clear on numbers aboard at any one time.
By any definition this will be the most gruelling of races physically and in every other way. It has been suggested that some entrants plan to cycle through multiple crews to allow longer individual recuperation periods. Is this encouraged or allowed? i.e. it is the boat that is effectively the entrant and, as long as suitably qualified, multiple crews are permitted to get it to the finishing line?
