Maybe so but are you going to tell us where the finish is?

Maybe they could start in Monte Carlo and finish in Cowes.

Assuming that there is a new finish I find it a little strange, as a fan of racing, that it is top secret.

Well at least we've narrowed it down to within 20Km of Monte Carlo. Any ideas?

Sorry to disappoint you Alice - the next payment isn't due until the end of the month and it's still only the 25th.

The race is still going to Monte Carlo but only for the finish and the boats will return to Nice for the party.

Rob Andrews went over some details on the course and Aidan Foley went over the commercial side, had a presentation from Dr Ullman on backs and seats and how it was going to hurt us all and then I left as I had to get back to Devon.

A full bulletin on the Race Briefing is being put together now for all teams registered and will be sent out tomorrow. Standing room only at the meeting with some 200 people attending – see pic. The final and most important briefing next March will only be available to race Teams who have paid their entry fees in full and will be strictly enforced.

The beautiful city of Nice – only a few miles from Monaco - is now the final venue and that is where the prize giving party for 1500 people - ticket only -will be held right by the boats still moored in the harbour. This should be spectacular and rightly so for those taking part.

The race will still be called Cowes to Monte-Carlo for reasons which will become apparent later!

All further information on this race will be available on our web site blog and on the Venture Cup Facebook site.

So Mike, with the final payment due at the end of the month, how many boats have you got entered and ready to hit the start line? I'm only asking as my company is looking to put some sponsorship out there. I've heard 42, may be 50, or at least 20. Also what is the policy on return of entry fees if by some act of god it dosent go? Heard a rumour the UIM have stuck their nose in... Thanks for the info...

Sadly it's looking more and more unlikely that we'll be taking part - I have expressed concerns about the absence of dry pits, the 20 or 25 knot wind limit and the likelihood of there being extra conditions attached to the issuing of event licences and as yet I haven't been able to resolve these issues.

We had hoped that we were going to put different people in the fourth seat to raise the extra funds needed for the event. A race like this to be limited to conditions less than a Class III race is ridiculous and finding parking for 150+ vehicles every day without any help from the organisers after driving considerable distances (without security) would be too much, especially as they are forecasting big crowds!

I was looking forward to taking part in this event very much indeed and I hope it turns out to be the event it deserves to be - if these issues are resolved and they'll have me back maybe I will take part? Good luck to those that take part!

We are not taking any trailer by road so there might be some interesting days..

John, why post this today? Do you KNOW for a fact that there are no parkings and the limit will be 20-25 knots?
Dry pits? We lifted the boat once during RB2008, in Lowestoft, and put her on some wooden blocks to check one of the drives. No problem, without a trailer.

If you REALLY want to do the race there are few excuses. Mike has worked like a madman the last two years for all of us and everything you see and hear is moaning and whining.

There are 42 teams listed on the VentureCup-website. I really hope that, at this point, most of them can stand up and make this historic race to happen.

Can anyone have an opinion.

Or does it now mean that if someone organises a race then every competitor, past competitor or spectator has to shut the mouth.

What I have found in business is if you listen to people then you pick the bones out of what they have to say and ocasionally things may improve.

So you were lucky in RB8 others wern't and this race is half as long again. logistley teams will need 2 support crews due to the increased distances.
Oh hang on I'm moaning

Interestingly I haven't been able to find one Powerboat Magazine - except for Ray Bulman's Blog of course - who is bothering to report on the latest development in the Venture Cup so obviously we don't exist but I guess there are much more important events going on in the Powerboat world and our race is just a side attraction. Well that's O.K. nothing new there then.

However, just for fun, I am going to self publish the results of our meeting in Portsmouth on the 24th - see below. This bulletin has been sent to all those race teams who couldn't get to the meeting last week, in theory about twelve of them, and incidently will have clarified some items that certain race teams have been huffing and puffing about. This is a prelude to important news coming out next week which WILL make headlines.
