Those of you who remember the "Ugly RIB" Braveheart 111, manned by three crazy Scotsmen who did so well in the RB08 will be pleased to know that they have just "committed" to taking part in the Cowes to Monte Carlo Grand Prix.
Bearing in mind that after the RB08 they drove the boat all the way down to the South of France to sell it they already know the way. This time they are coming out in a bigger and faster machine but aren't saying what. It will be good to have them aboard. Their Kippers are good to!

How could we forget. On the rest we all had a very pleasant sip of scotch.

Will the Marathon rules be altered in time to allow Supercharged 9+ litre petrol engines?
The present rules give 27 litres max limit for A class divide by 1.6 penalty for blowers = 16.875 litres total so for 2 engines max 8.437 litres supercharged, this will rule out all the big blocks that run in P1 and that are cheaply available off the shelf in the States, so will also prevent the American fleet entering!
A 1.4 penalty was the norm.....
I think this rule stopped the Americans from coming to Cowes.

Basically no. If the Americans want to take part they will have to change their engines as the Brits would if we wanted to take part in their races.
This is Marathon/Endurance racing, not sprint racing. We see no reason to request a change to the rules at this stage.

Shirley Simpkins of ORDA (Offshore Racing Drivers Association) has been appointed Race Secretary for the Cowes Monte Carlo Powerboat Grand Prix 2013.
It will be Shirley’s job to put the Admin Team together who will actually help run the race in 2013.
