Rob maybe you'll just have to leave the name but temporarily mask over the Embassy logo? Either that or by then it will be illegal to broadcast footage of boats or vehicles in any sport that is sponsored by companies producing alcohol - in which case both you and Mike could be screwed for coverage!

Cowes Monte-Carlo Grand Prix 48hr update:

38 Expressions of interest. 22 have said "Count us in's" so we count them as confirmed 2 of which are "new" racers. 1 Full payment received and 1 deposit paid.

No request for any monies has gone out yet but we are being asked how much to put down to ensure their entry.

The usual doubting thomas's are starting but that is par for the course.

Many individual offers of help coming through some of which are REALLY interesting. All much appreciated.

Only one race club has offered any help, again par for the course. That is UKOBA.

All within 48 hrs so it's been pretty busy.

All "confirmed" entries will be put on the web site which will be ready shortly - we hope!

2:1 is probably about right, but lets not forget we're only a few days into a 2-1/2 year countdown. 2:1 based on the peak figure, we don't know what that peak figure will be until this event's existence has perculated throughout the boating world. Remember, one would expect a higher percentage of European entries to this event than the RB's, and getting the word out there will take a while.

Mike,
Even the wife likes the idea.
Already planning as we speak and college fund being raided.

Please let me know if we can do anything to help.

Trip of a lifetime.

Yes. We don't expect any problems in that direction except that we have been asked by higher authorities, or rather the suggestion has been put that we should move the mininum boat footage up to 26ft from 24ft (including RIB's). Purely for a safety aspect but that has yet to be decided.

I know the arguments that will be coming on that front but it's us that's organising this event and us who have to take the can if anything goes wrong out there.

Thanks Justin, I have already put you down. Re your wife liking it, that's the cunning plan. They will all like the idea of heading for the sun, probably heading straight for Saint-Tropez and the beach and waiting for you guys.

As for help, we will be looking for all the help we can get as time goes on - like drowning men and I am sure you will know what I mean! Trip of a lifetime is right on the button.

The good news just keeps coming.

My old chum Jeff Hunton of Hunton Powerboats, with whom I raced against throughout the 1980’s, phoned tonight to say that they now have a large stand at the London Boat Show in January and that they have reserved a place for us so that we can launch our race from their stand. Launch dates will follow shortly.

Needless to say this is simply brilliant and he has also confirmed that Hunton will be taking part in the race in one of their bigger cruisers and that Jeff will be crewing himself.

We wish to convey our grateful thanks to Hunton Powerboats for their generous support.

London Boat Show.

Mike, for maximum media impact perhaps you should aim for the Public Preview Day (Press Day in old money) on Friday Jan 7th. Opening hours are 10am till 7pm.

Mike I will converse with you on Facebook if need be or give you a call. But i spend a lot of my working time in the South of France and my business partners have their offices in Monaco. I have strong connections to various prestigious hotels etc in Monaco.

I would be happy to put you in touch with the right people to see if they will sponsor or logistically help in anyway.

I fly back out in the coming few weeks so I can start to mention things if you wish.

As stated in my email to you this morning-please register my interest to enter the event.
