Cowes Red Jet Start Boat

I have taken the decision today not to have the Red Jet as our Start Boat / spectator platform.

From the limited feedback received, I suspect we will sell fewer tickets than last year.

2012 we sold 67 tickets at £20.00 - £1340.00. (40% of ticket sales were to Powerboat P1 spectators).

The cost of the charter was £2000.00

I simply can't justify another "hit" on the 2013 Event budget.

Thats a shame John, thanks for trying, will have to watch the whole race from Fort Victoria!!

Could you not see what sort of response you get if you advertised in the local IW County Press, first come first served for say 50 limited tickets?

Good decision. The maths has to add up

And I thought Red Funnel supported the event

They did for 2009, 2010 and 2011.

Last year they needed payment of £2000.00 for the charter of the Red Jet.

Similar figure plus for this year.

Start boat

I know at least 4 people and their partners at my place of work alone that were drew-ling over that we were on the start boat last year.
Powerboat racing has a lot followers over here as you know, thousands turn up to see the start, they just need shaking up a little!!

If one of the "4 people" wants to put their hand in pocket and give Red Funnel £2k plus - We are slightly back in the ball game.

It would be interesting to see how many genuine passengers we could get for the red jet, and then see what the end cost per person would be bearing in mind it costs £2000 to hire.

So how about all interested parties show their hands now to see if we can raise enough interest.

If there are not enough passengers at least we know if it is a no go!

So any takers?

Well I would probably take up 4 please Dozzer. I can put an piece up at Gurit HQ here on the Island, to see what sort of response there would be there, as we manufacture materials for high speed powerboats and yachts!!

You can put me down for two and I'll pay up front. It's the only way I'll get to see the race.
