A 260 efi box is limited 7800 or 8200 if you have race offshore box. I will look up the 11350A... numbers for you(we are not using these boxes anymore for a long time)
If the eprom is changed it's possible but not with merc program

The difference between 260 and 280 is new tuner and the all new PCM555

The chip in the box may be limited to 8250 but you can get chips that rev to 11250 and take seconds to swap over.

Engine killer was bought in England by F Lamot. A waterski-racer.

Engine brand new from Merc, boat was equiped with a hydraulic CNC Jack

It was a customers boat not mine and I said before, what engine height are you guys running, we 2 inches under the bottem, around 74, 75 mph it was chine walking like hell, afterwards better, why are you so agressive in your posts? I want to now why your 20ft is so fast. Was there a change in the hull?

Last year at the bombardier dealermeeting there was a 20ft with a 250 etec and with a 28 it did 76mph.

Yeah, thats not that good, Burty saw over 83 (GPS) on his standard lay up P20 with a completely standard 260.

Real speed is read at gps or rader gun. All the rest is I think it will run.

With better set up and more testing mayby engine killer would run 2 or 3 mph faster but not 12.

At the dealer meeting ther was one with the heavy 250 etec and did 76

Burty 82+ with a 260

So if it was a very fast 2.5 producing around 350 HP then its possible to run this fast.

I am sorry if I offend people with being a not believer.

I suspect its because in your first post on this thread you implied that hutchy (rigger of many very fast race boats) doesn't know how to set up a tacho properly and thinks his V6 merc is spinning at 8500rpm when in actual fact its only doing 5700rpm.

I am sorry Hutchy my mistake.

It's the job, a customer called that his standard 225 evinrude was turning 8000 rpm with a 25 shooter on a cyclone 19ft. The setting of the tacho was indeed not right and the estimated speed was much slower then the real deal.
BTW I did not instal the engine or tacho

It was 83.3mph on a garmin hand held GPS I know because I was holding it at the time. It was in the sea and we were traveling perpendicular to the tidal current. The motor was completley stock as it blew up on the return run and has since been pulled apart in the US by Jay Smith of Jay Smith Race Engines and according to him it was completley standard. It even had the original Mahle pistons in it!!!

Do you mean the cavitation plate is 2" below bottom, if so I assume this is for ski racing and not out & out performance?

No, propshaft 2 inches under bottem, but as the boat had a hydraulic Jack plate from cnc we tried al lot of different things. Yes the boat was a waterski-raceboat

The 280 has a different block to the 260 with a hogged out exhaust chest from the factory and lower ports to re-gain the low end torque lost by hogging the exhaust chest out. It also has O-ringed heads an alternator and as you said the new PCM555 electronics. I dont know if the tuner is different or not but that wouldn't really make any difference anyway.
