Possibly, but that 23 year old rib is still running which has to say something for them. However you can keep the dory, they are truely awful in anything other than a duck pond.

It's remarkable how reliable an engine can become just by straping a load of rubber around it!...thinking about it, it can't be true, I've got a rubber rubbing strake, and I'm still having to make changes to my boat.
I guess keeping your boat sub 20mph helps too.

The Dory that you refer to is infact a "rigid raider" which is indeed crap for anything other than raiding! The military obviously like a bit of crap, coz as you know the rib is one of theirs as well.
I don't know if that "23 year old" rib is still running as you say, but in it's defence I would say that it doesn't look a day older than 22!!!!!!!
