Rogers boat was virtually unbeatable 'in class', at least by boats that met the rules, anyway!

Of course, yes, they beat Tony Dowley in his 800 odd hp monster!

No, that was Cowes, round the Island, and was made by the owner of the red 38 'Bertram Competition' pictured earlier, high and dry on the mud, Tony 'mad dog' Hamilton.

This was Rogers first race in the P28, at Torquay.

On a particularly rough round the island race, Roger spanked Dog Gone's arse in a big way on the ROUGHER sections of the race, the Needles, St-Cats, even tho' the 38 foot twin Lamborgini powered boat was capable of low 80's, he couldn't get near Roger Ramjet in the slop.

He did eventually beat him on the run back up the solent though, where Rogers 74mph top end wasn't enough.

Some time after the race, Tony said to Roger, " I hate your fkkn boat!" (we felt the same way!)

What did Rogers boat have in it then?

Do i assume Petrol V8's similar to what matts got? Just wondered why inboards as opposed to o/bs when I always thought "BRUT" was such a bruiser?

4mph faster than Leviathan?

When it was new, it ran 73-74mph.

When it was a couple of years old, and had had some 'maintainance', twoz a bit slower, we ran with it in a poker run, and there was no difference whatsoever between 'Wentworth' and 'Leviathan' top end.

At that time Leviathan maxed out at about 71.5-72mph

Cool.........to me thats really going some.

Why did he opt for i/b was it a requirement of the particular class he wanted to race in?

Na, it did end up being a stern drive only class, but that was after he opted for IO's.

Not everyone likes 'clip-ons', me included, he just wanted it that way.
It was the first P28 to get Inboards.

Well, actually that's not true, Mike Bellamy (Lozza's pop) had the very first P28 out the mould, which had the cruiser deck (the only one) and that had an inboard, but it was a straight six Ford diesel, on an LM surface drive.
