At the beginning of the 'Gosport 97' snippet there is a very loud yellow boat throwing a roostertail.

I seem to recall it leading with everyone trying to catch it (until it stopped).

Wonder whatever happened to it?

Actually, I remember running alongside 'Reefer' for a while at around 78mph and then very gradually creeping past, then it stopped.

When I spoke with Tony Dowley afterwards (a little surprised that we were running along side a 870hp boat, with our 460hp) he said, "we made a bad prop choice!".

I think he had a MkV failure.

The MkV had done about 10 hours of testing and half a race when it failed.

Same thing happened the following year with another MkV on 'Thunderbird'. Approx 10 hours testing, 1/2 race and failure.
