A trip to the engine shop....

Took the day off and drove the hundred miles to my engine builders shop today hoping to dyno one of my motors. Didn't get the motor finished, but came close. It'll be dyno'ed tomorrow.

Took the camera along just in case there were some interesting projects.

Here's a picture of the 41 Apache "Ghost Runner" in the shop. Two new 1180 hp motors push the boat into the mid 90's.

Here's a brand new Cigarette Top Gun with fried motors. The over heating of the motors was caused by improper rigging at Cigarette. The motors are 700 hp tunnel rams bt Ritchie Zul.

Beautiful! it all looks so 'clinical'!

Shame on Cigarette! one would expect THEM to understand the basic reqirements for big motors.

I take it the 41 Apache is a heavy beast! seems a lorra power to achieve 90's

There was a thread on OSO recently, where a 42 Cig (new) aparently ran 86 with twin 525's, I thought that to be the other way round, ie, a little optomistic, but was corrected by the OSO membership who said it was about par! pretty amazing from a lttle over 1000 horse.

I'm told the Apache has a wet weight of 15,000 lbs.

The new Cigarette Tiger is much lighter with a step bottom.
It takes a lot of power to move these older wave crushers. But when the going gets rough, there's no question which boat I'd rather be in.
