doing a similar job to what the notch in the 600 does.... allowing the motor to rev higher during hole shot .

I was thinking it was related to top bearing cooling.....not much point in aerating the water behind you......

I reckon it would be possible to ventilate the prop from that position.

And, the fat bit in the pipe near the top, is probably a non return valve to stop it ejaculating water out the top of the pipe when reversing.

looks to me like a more direct way to vent the prop rather than having the vent in the hull/notch, thus removing the need for forward motion to produce ventilation.... by the looks of the first pic, as the prop blade swings past the vent orofice it would naturally start pulling air. just MHO of course!

Yes, but they're IMCO lowers(and uppers I think), so a different shape to a stock Bravo and even looks to have a prop venting port built into the drive casting.
