Apache
Some footage to show why they say what they do about the big 'V's
Some tidy throttling across the swells too.
On the 'Warpath'

Thanks should go to Mike Lloyd (Old Man) who sent me the video.
If it wasn't for people like him, Nige, Graham etc, the media section would be a dull as dishwater!
PS. reckon the wave height estimates on the commentary may be a bit over keen!
Amazing footage though.
The clip's going down well in the US:

Mebbe PJC could get us some footage of a modern class 1 boat running.
I attended a wee seminar a couple of years back at the Royal Southern Yacht club, where Steve & Clive Curtis told their stories of boatbuilding & racing, new & old, 'here' & 'there' along with some fabulous video of Steve running in rough conditions in 'Spirit of Norway'!
Some of Clives stories of their years in the U.S. were most entertaining!
I Wonder if we could get an action replay from the Curtis camp!
I could supply the AV kit.

Blimey Jon, never thought that would go international but very pleased it has. Wonderful feedback from the Yanks but not much from the boyos over here. Wonder why? Am doing some more digging to see what else I have!

I'm just jealous.
It's a shame even old apache's go for major $$$, or I'd quite fancy one.

I mentioned in another thred about the vid on the Global series where the debenhams arse end gives way, it's a 5 race Uk series, one of my favorit's of the uk scene as it remind's me of the good days, if you do not have a copy and there is no objection from any other's I could sent it to JF to copy on to dvd for prosperities sake, and others that would like a copy, and perhaps the Media section....It was made by proactive productions ltd southstoke house bath BA2 7DG, I have not checked to see if they still trade, I used to help a guy sometimes named Mike in Poole who had a stand selling all offshore stuff on a stand at each event, still see him knocking around he asked if I would like to buy the remainder of the unsold vids from those days? I said I would think about it depends on the price

The footage of the Team Apache boat was from the 1985 Key West worlds, they where running up the back of the reef at the time, I think they where coming up behind our boat “Mr Roberts”, we beat them in a cat! In New Jersey that year I remember Ben & Bob running the Warpath boat so hard in the rough that they broke all the mounts for the stainless rams on the large 600C competition trim tabs.
Will raid Steve’s DVD draw and see what current stuff he has hidden away

Steve’s Dad Clive once told me that he collected most of the wicked videos of the American offshore racing scene from the mid ‘70’s to the mid 80’s, he used to have them sent over, so if Steve has got those and he can let JF copy them then we are in for one hell of a rare treat.

Looks like OSO didn't like the video/link for some reason!
No doubt they'll copy & host it on their own server.
