Class I Video

No music, voiceovers or helicopter sounds.

Very much like being there.

Ben I have just downloaded the clips from a pc at work without a soundcard, but from what you say there is no obligatory Rock track - marvellous! Makes a change from things like the many reports I used to watch on Top Gear with the likes of VBH talking of the ´sweet music from that glorious V12 Ferrari´etc, only to have it almost completely drowned out by the accompanying music track. Makes my blood boil!!!!!

Why do they do that?

I asked Clarkson and Andy Wilman, the producer of top gear, and they didn't really have an answer.

As you say, makes the blood boil!

Maybe those of us who like the noise are too anoraki for the rest of the world. I was fit to lamp some kid at last year's British GP for blowing his bloody air horn, no doubt the superbikes will be the same and I'll get cross all over again.

Then again, sometimes when there is no music track the commentators just get it wrong.

I have a Cowes tape from a few years ago (probably from Watersports World or something like that) with the actual sound of Richard Carr's Lethal Magic starting up in the pits. The sound of blown V8s is pretty distinctive but the commentator of course had to say that the boat was powered by three Lamborghini V12s!

That's true, I've got loads of rally videos from the 70's with Rs1800's making Lancia Stratos noises, but there again I suppose the fact that we know the difference goes back to the anorak issue!

I just watched the video. How did the red Hydrolift boat end up on the bank?? Have a look at 3.09 minutes into the video.
