Drivers Poker run. Aug 12th
Here's a few pics from Saturday.
Didn't get any out on the water, as it was blowing pretty strong and there was loads'a spray coming over the boat, even when stationary, and I wasn't prepared to trash the camera for a few pics.

The Poker run was obviously not quite as good as hoped, firstly, because the weather wasn't all that kind to the guys in the smaller, or more exposed boats, and secondly, poor old Simon having some really crap luck with his misshap, which really was just dreadfull luck, and not his fault at all.
There were a few boats missing, that we had been expecting to enter, such as Colin Morgan in the Extreme cat, Tony Davis in his Spectre (gearboxes busted) and a few others, but generally, the bit we did run, was interesting, and for some of us, great fun!
The Mutz Nutz had their fun spoilt a bit, taking a pretty big one (or two) over the front, giving them some unwanted stern ballast, in conditions where that wasn't at all ideal! ..Very good sports, the pair of them, just got on with it.
Nick Gilleys XS sport romped across it all with ease, fab boat!
Cookee looked just a bit wet in the Shark, but kept smilling.
Francis Whitley and family also looked like they'd had their fair share of salt spray, though I never heard a word of protest, and for his daughter-in-law (I think) it was a baptism of fire, as it was her first trip to the island in a small (ish) boat.
Clearly we're very glad it was no more than a trip to casualty, and a check over & couple of stitches for Zani, Simons crew, as it could so easily have been a different story.

Yeah, we've been watching these two at Cowes over the years, very dodgy! I don't reckon they're brothers, I think they just look alike, and the 'brothers' thing is just a smoke screen to cover up the homosexuality!

We had a fab time!
We went in Roger severys Phantom 28 (Victory Inn) and despite the chop, did 85mph on the way to the fort. We were not sure which fort we needed so Roger slowed down to let to let the Sunseeker XS go past so we could follow him; on speaking with Nick in the pub he was not sure which one either! well funny.
We were not at all put out at the decision to call it a day; it was the right call in the interests of the saftey of the fleet.
Glad that the cat crew were all ok; the incident made the front page of the Echo on monday. The were a few errors in the story as the cat had crashed during a `race`? (its not a race) and one of the crew had `head, spine, leg and back injuries`?
A big thanks to all the people who put the day together and the people who traveled down to take part.
Well done
