Both much the same, as will be any 2.5, 150, 200 etc. and the 2.4's and XR2. There all the same family of engines hence why parts and stuff are so interchangeable.

Basically the 4 strokers are IMHO a lard ass motor & better off on fishing boats. There power to weight is crap compared to the older generation 2 strokes. As far as power to weight goes stating from the top
2.5 (280)
300X
200XS
250XS
2.5 XS (If fact the power weight on this one IMHO ain't to clever).
Basiclly 2 Varados = 3 2.5's thats heavy & a newer generation of boat will come in time with rather more freeboard at the stern & stronger transoms to cope with the increses (hi performce stuff not fishing) I've not given up hope of a 300XS based on say 2.9

Yeah used to be 2.5 was king now its 3.3L. Yamaha has its 300 HPDI Vmax out & Mercury will soon follow. Etecs V6 are 3.3L too.
The 200 VMax hpdi was 2.5L its now 3.3 L & picked up 35 kgs. they dont really care about our lighter boats...

Would they close Lake X, Build a new facility, Then close it down Surly they wouldn't be that daft.............................maybe
Little moves like this could shift the balance of power with regard to performace outboards
