Matt on your OSO post first line is this ... The 525 Cam is a 16HR00004 from Crane. (741 on 114).

Now as I posted some time back about Crane shutting up shop due to the recession here is a sad thread on OSO stating the problems now engine builders face since their sad demise

http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/g...y-auction.html

having had small block car engines in the past and many of my friends had too and upgraded engines over the years this is a real pity

I have an opinion, but I'm sure Motorvator can tell you the facts.

Back on track - it seems the engines actually dynoed a long way south of 700 - and on closer inspection (and a phone call later) they left the lid off the hatch!

Were they dynoed in the boat, or in a dyno house?

I don't understand what you're saying really. Well, if they were dynoed in the boat I do, but would have thought that unlikely.

625 in the boat with the hatch on strangling them? or 625 in a dyno house with full breathing apparatus?

Sorry I don't have that information - I just thought I would mention that they were dynoed well under the 750 you mentioned, I don't know how it was done.

OK.

I bet Drew's well pleased then, I know he bought them from Giancarlo as 750's.

Giancarlo now has the Supercharged 9.1 litre merc racing engines. dunno if they're 850's, 1075's, or 1200's. knowing the P1 system, they're probably declared as 7.4L-330's.

Drew Langdon has indicated that the boat may return to Torquay on Tuesday 28th April for final Testing and following completion of the install of equipment and livery change.

If I was to make an uneducated guess I would say that they were tested at the prop and some of the loss would be accounted for by the drive system - of course that also means less weight in the boat.

My theory is that I would rather have a longer boat than put loads of weight in a shorter one giving better rough water performance - but what do I know!

So my guess of source was right at the beginning of the thread they are from the OSG 06 race boat or at least some of the no doubt 4-6 engines Giancarlo had to keep the boat going over the season's, but I recall in the pits they said they were 645hp each through carb's not injection with superchargers with the idea of keeping them reasonably simple for reliability during the season, and it was said that the Donzi ran 110-115mph fast but it would not have been enough to stay with last years boats that top over 120mph should that boat have been racing in evo instead of Supersport with 525's
