Marine Ply no Balasa wood, Most were from reconised builders, You could knock a hose down with a stapley, went well in the rough too. 1979 Brighton was rotten and came in 1st & 2nd Peter Bloomfield passed us on the last lap to win in his stapley. Duncan Grant averaged 70 Kts over a 90 Nm at a Camden Trophy, Race sppeds were no different or slower.
As for why it doesnt happen now. mmmmh That would be another thread. Personally I think rule changes were made by those who shout loudest as a knee jerk reaction too declining entries.
Entries always rise and fall in number depending on the economy. Far less disposable money nowadays, maybe its all due to the rise of the Internet, Powerboat racing has declined with its increasing popularity < joke> Does coincide though.
As I say thats another thread.
As for robin hood retro it's a 80+ retro with less power and less efficient prop

waffle waffle ramble, where did I put that horse.
Maybe another thread on the decline and sorry to say death of the sport. Does the RYA still provide cover for accident 3rd party, I see from a PB1 in 03 that you have to have personal accident, why?

Trying my best!

My last two litre mono (now Night Nurses boat) was a true one off and very successful. Raced against a whole fleet of 'unbeatable Mannerfelts' and we still won the National Championships. Two years later Bob Lewthwaite also won the Nationals in the same boat.

My four litre boat went on to win the Nationals with Mark and Odette Priestly.

Also did a one off two litre mono in the 90's that won the European Championships.

The current C-18, my cat is now nearly ready to do some winning as well!

Otherwise would love to design more race boats and get frequent enquiries - but finances of building do not help. Current or recent enquiries include a 2litre 'sprint' cat, a trimaran, 2 litre monohulls, ProVee, and a 'special' single seater.

Otherwise I will carry on with the commercial and leisure boat design - where the majority of our work comes from!

Up the revolution & power to you.

I'll keep this thread for what is and start up another one in the racing section.

great too hear from you the other night by the way let me know when you out next, If poss I'll run safety 4 u.

Brass in pocket is what it about at the end of the day. It has to come from the Competitors not the builders.

I'd like to think we're doing our bit as well - we ran the RIB in Class 3, which went well in the rough as well (remember Cowes europeans Adam!), we're now racing the 2nd hull in RIB Formula 1 (200hp) and hope to compete in Formula 200 as well this year - we wanted to race Class 3 and RIBs when they were running together but the ORC at the RYA got thier nickers ina twist and wouldn't let us although we were prepared to pay 2 entry fees!

If anyone wants a new boat building you've still got time - sadly they only come with tubes on although with a bit of work we might be able to fit wings!

Mike bellamy's son Laurence (LorenZo on this forum), ran an old 17' Stapely cat with a doubled up Norton wankel motor.

What you need Chaos, is a "Missfitz Cocktail"! that'd get things moovin.
