Furburger Too
Graham, was this boat a cig 36?? I know it was built by cigarette but from the only photo I have of it - not 100% convinced it was a 36 widebody....(tried looking on Google Images and nearly choked on my breakfast........)

As far as I can tell the boat only entered the CTC 75 and retired.M.Cottrell was the driver, and boat was ex-Zenith Time,ex-Sun and ----.,a cary 32.The pic in the gallery was at Faireys.

Now whose troublemaking.
Damn place is full of Shead boats.Spoilt for choice really.I may have the odd Shead sticker I could slap on D2S`s transom. You can admire it all the way to Torquay and back.

Who`s overtaking who?
Knocking all the wind-up`s to one side, you occasionally get your day in the sun.Back 1971 Lady A had hers when on a flat calm day and racing `Highland Fling`,the 25ft single mercruiser boat overtook `Hot Bovril`, 33ft twin mercruisers after almost 100miles of flat out racing down to Portland and back to the Nab in the Telegraph race. Her Ladyship was to be denied in the last few miles with fuel starvation problems, but for one brief moment an OPII had the beating of an OP I.

Poor old D2S
Blu Fin comments the boat lacked the legs when it last had petrols fitted, but in actual fact it won about 9 races like that, albeit against domestic competition, other than beating Alitalia Due in a rough Spithead one year.It doesn`t stay in the memory as a international winner because it usually retired in the international races or had a problem during the races it finished.
Unoembassy was still experimenting with the transfer box,so all in all not many races for the plastic boats to measure themselves against foreign opposition.

I'm happy to stand corrected....Just seemed not quite on the pace from memory thats all. We all know what tricks the memory can play.
