Lightbulb Ghost Rider Featured at NY Boat show

The person in the GR is it's owner....Barry Cohen....he has owned the boat for the past 40 years....The boat is invited to be the feature attraction at next years Boston and Miami Shows.

GR was built by Souter on the Isle of Wight in 1964, shipped to the USA, to Daytona Marine Shipyards, Daytona Beach, FL and received her hardware and twin 750hp Turbo Daytona powerplants in 1965. Won as Undefeated World Champion Offshore in 1966: Cowes-Torquay, Miami-Nassau, St. Petersburgh Hurricane Classic and Miami-Key West. Last outing was in 1981 as Americas Cup Courtesy boat. May be seen at barryfcohen.com as progress continues to return to sea after a slumber of 26 years in a cocoon at a shpyard in RI.

Cool history, thanks for sharing.

Does it still have the original motors?

No, the Daytonas built on the GM 427 engine are gone...many years back.........however a new set of 496 Supercharged Barcone Daytonas producing 900hp are being built by Barcone Marine Corp at the Scranton,PA factory. In 1966 the top end of GR was 87mph pulling full turbo boost and burning 144 gal per hr........we guesstimate the new engines will boost the speed to the 95 to 105 range.............this is probably the Last Hurrah for the old Champion..........but , what style................Barcone will build a replica of the original in the 300,000 USD range...............
