Holy Cr*p!!!!! That's a great bit of film. Anyone thinking of going into powerboat racing who sees this would surely sign on the dotted line. Some outrageous moments in there!!

Some great footage. Really enjoyed it and some really close racing

You guys do a fantastic job and have blatently got some serious bottle!

However, not a great advertisement for the handling capabilities of both the 225 and 150 hulls. Is it just me or do the boats seem really unstable and a right handfull at times??? So many spills!

I wouldn't be best pleased if my boat behaved like that - although I do appreciate that mine is not set up as a race boat and that the conditions were pretty choppy at times.

From a spectator point of view the handling adds to the fun, and to be honest driving something thats a bit of handfull is often more fun than driving something that practically handles itself.

I think the boats look great.

Yeah, go on Steve, design another shopping trolley, they're brilliant!

Now we know where Du Cane, Levi, Shead, Walters, Baker, Buzzi, Campbell, Birkett, Mannerfelt and all them nobs got it wrong.

Sorry, but had to be said.

I'd been told it was a scaled down Cougar Thunderboat, for which Adam had been blamed for!

Mind you, whoever was responsible for that, 'someone' must have made the decision to use a scaled down version, and that was with the advantage of hindsight!

You guys are so harsh - LOL

The new Chauldron 40 footer seems to be doing well in P1 I think that looks great too. Legal or not its nice to see the spirit of the Phantom Design being carried on, Its got a stepped hull too!

I think the boats look great.

But they handle like shyte - at least the 225 does, not driven a 150.

To be honest, driving something that intrinsically wants to dump you in the water all the time would be a pain in the ass. You want the boat to be the best a boat can be, and get to the ragged edge by driving over the edge. The Honda 225 starts getting unstable and 'twitchy' at about 5 miles below its top end speed. Contrast this to the other race boat I have driven - you can run a V24 at the same exact speed as the Honda 225 boat, without holding the wheel! At 65mph the V24 is completely stable even in a bit of chop. When you push the V24 really hard, you have to concentrate - ie in the last 2 mph you have to consider what you are doing.

The V24 also provides 'feedback' when you push it, so you can get a sence that it is getting to the edge. The Honda just gives up and throws you out. There is also an element of recovery in the V24 - it 'forgives' your mistakes and tries to save the day when you mess things up.

This is not because the V24 has a soul, its because it was designed to do what it does by a very clever designer. Anyone can build a stepped hull boat. But building one that performs well and provides feedback and offers stability is very difficult.

FACT: Honda 225 racers have bigger balls than I do.

And the Honda surgeon must be very good cuz you cant see the scar on their foreheads where their brains have been removed. I thought powerboat racing was a NON CONTACT sport? The bar in the evening must be great with everybody throwing punches at each other for dodgey overtaking manouvers!!!!! Obviously the irfpcas rules dont apply.
