Lightweight 21 SportCat

Just putting the finishing touches to another 21 SportCat, a light weight raceboat.

Total weight including increased sized tanks and foam buoyancy is sub 480kg!

Power will be from a Simon Motorsports modified 300XS, this will be one quick boat.

Awesome, Alan. It will be more than just quick with such an engine, that's for sure. Please keep me informed about the test results, mate.

Although we're not rigging the boat, I will certainly be going out to test this boat, will keep you informed Paddy. Cheers mate

Blimp, will be in Galway in April for the CPB rally, you bringing the Tcats?

Cookie, not sure of the class, the boat is being shipped overseas.
Whats the min weight on 3C?

Alan

Doesn't it have to be canopied for 3C? (Multihull)

Not sure they'd allow a tuned 300 either! ( Unless you're Italian. )

Agree with Jon, that's why I asked - it wouldn't fit any class I have heard of - I think at 21' it may be a bit short and as Jon says end up light without ballast even if it had the right motor on the back!

Having said that it sounds like it will be quick!

Is it a secret as to its destination?

Cookie, this boat is not intended for 3C, I was actually just curious to the min weight of a 3C boat. If it would measure I might give it a go in the future.

I'm not certain of the class the boat races in but it's not a European class, that's all I can really say. The customer has asked for discretion until their season begins.

Well the 21 Phantom only just measures for Class III and that is with our special anti stuff nose - so I think it may be a bit close.

I don't have the rules handy, but if it was a foot longer it would stand a better chance!

Bermuda?

Larby, shipping weight wouldn't matter until above 20 tones.

It's not Bermuda, although we do get quite a few inquiries from there and this ones not going to Malta

I did think that! Does anyone in the states still make them though?

How are the sportcats made anyhoo? Are they from an original mould, or are they a legal splash?
Lovely boats, wish I could afford one of those to race in!

Hang on a minute, that could be coming over here... there's people with the money, and our classes would allow it... would be very competitive in reasonable weather!

I think it would be more than competitive, it would dominate if the conditions were flat!

Was it based on a Skater?

Larby, it's not going your way. Yes, Extreme still build a 21 in Florida and Trick are still around I think!

Our moulds are the ex-Lightning Powerboats moulds.

Paul, the conditions wouldn't need to be too flat. The SportCat runs very well in the rough when set up for it.

Yes it is based on a Skater 21 with a modified bottom, some slight deck changes and a new liner.
