It was a nasty crash too. It happened in March this year in Port Phillip Bay near Geeling (south of Melbourne).

See story below.

The guys haven't been back in the water as yet. Hope to see them in the Championships next year.

The boat in a B23 built under licence in New Zealand.

Thats what i thought dave. I assumed it would be min 200hp but even then it looked to be running quicker than that?

Yes we were running a 250HO
Caught a cruiser wash which grabbed the nose and around and over she went
Tore the top of the port wing off and split the starboard side open

Still not in a fit state to race, ankle and leg are not right yet.

Next season, well, we need to get some more boats in the class for there to be a class.

For those interested in the speed of the boat,
it was a bit more than 115kph

Well, i can imagine that our crash in my B23 prolly looked the same. I missed a pretty big wave(waves) from a cruiser.

We did 2 monster jumps, prolly world record, nose hooked on secound landing, wing grabbed water and arround we went.

We did 80+mph and water is hard.

Glad to hear that you guys are alive, and i hope you will get back to running.

Regards from Sweden.

Shocking vid - Wasnt expecting that at all!!

Glad to hear that those involved are on the mend

Seems to be a little unstable though and right on the limit leading up to it. I can see the tabs on the back but the stern is so far out of the water that they dont seem to be doing anything to help keep her level.

Overtrimmed?? engine jacked up too high?? High COG??

Not sure how heavy the evinrudes are compared to the XR2 / 200XS that the 3C guys run but the B23s usually seem pretty stable and happy to take on some lumpy water. Maybe its just cos the UK guys set their up for that type of water.
