matt your right, if u look at the hydrolift web site they do the exact same model without the tubes.. so i think theyre just stuck on as bumpers really. I also agree 100% with your views, i hate the way alot of people stereo type any rib as better because it is a rib... my girlfriend was on the courtcase for "southamton boatshow incident" proof that alot of ribs are shitters as everyone is trying to cash in on the rib boom.

Quote:
With that low bow & tapered tubes I bet this will stuff its nose like a good un in the right conditions (Matt - agree with your comments on that one).
thats right brambles, its not just the mould, the hull is the ocke 24ft batboat or sr8 hull.... (says he thats looking into buying one!!)

from my point of view i have lots of reasons for crossing over.... the bumper thing is a definate plus, i candrive my boat, i do make the odd mistake though and i am rya trained, but its all the others that cant, the right hand side of my boat is scarred with the effects of all the other twats coming alongside.. also id feel safer leaving my boat in a mates helm when i accidently get to pissed to drive if its got a dirty great bumper around the outside..

im ashamed to say it but theyre fashionable and i like the look of em too although i do have to agree with me missus in that they dont look as good as a hard boat!

i think they tend to be lighter due to less superstructure which in my opinion can make em more fun to drive and flick around and easier to trailer, i dragged the range rover 6ft down the slip last year and nearly into the green in my boat!!

Quote:
but have you ever actually been in a rib, ever?
i have many scorpion, revenger some shitter of my mates we nick named the pile driver and my mates racing sr8... and i like em just my hair gets messed up by the time we get to the pub in em!!!

how bout those crazy italians... this is outa box thinkin!! sanity box maybe!

It's a Falcon innit!...with a styling kit

But!,...it is a rib, so it'll be fantastic in a gale, or even a hurricane, and if you own one, the chicks'll come running!

Well he sold them in the same way that steve baker sold boats to customers, some of which then 'splashed' them! but I'm not sure that makes them the 'real thing'.

Mark supplied a set of consoles to Ocke (who also licenced the 8m rib hull to prestige) for fitment to one of his own boats, then the SA lot appeared with an identical console (and I do mean identical)

Oh fook, there goes another make down the drain.

Starting to agree with Matt, once apon a time Ribs were orange and more to the point we all knew each other.

However as the FGT pointed out a while ago, what did british industry have to offer in competition ? a 17 foot fletcher or something from the Shakespear lot, hardly award winning stuff. Remember fletcher sold Osprey a set of rib moulds in 86 because there was no future in them

Toobs are good for dive boats, rescue boats, work boats, plenty of stuff, but it's ******* ridiculous the way joe nobber who's just got his certificate of incompetence thinks they are the be all and end all to every boating scenario.

Toobs=Anti Stuff? Get a life, you are plankton. You don't even know what a stuff is. Don't fecking kid me that a little bit of spray over the bow makes you an expert in stuffing.
Toobs=Bumpers? Learn to drive you idiot (Well away from me you ****, especially aimed at those 2 idiots who were at Drivers the other week. Are you going boating? Clear the feckin solent. Abandon ship!!!!)
Toobs=Extra Speed? You are kidding me!!! Go home in your Toyota Rav 4 for the school run.
Toobs=Stylish? Cool. Lets take some of the sexiest, sleakest boat designs from the last 30 years and stick a feckin set of stabilisers on it. Didn't ya mummy tell you stabilisers past the age of 5 are not cool.
Toobs=Cheaper? Yeh, right oh. Keep thinking that, so my next hard boat will be cheaper. (And faster. And more stylish)
Toobs=Dryer? Glen, come on!!!! I'm not saying you're current boat is necessarily the right one for you, but have you ever actually been in a rib, ever?

Don't get me wrong, there's a time and place for toobs, and I'll be the first person in the feckin thing, if it's the RIGHT TOOL FOR THE JOB. Show me a rib that is cheaper, faster, better handling and more stylish, as well equipped, AND more practical than a hardboat of comparable size, FOR THE SAME MONEY, and I'll eat this fecking table.

And b4 anyone quotes my post at the beginning of this thread, I stand by the comment. It does look good. But then see if it has a cuddy, or is drier, or faster, or cheaper, or better handling etc.

All the best
Your friend
Matt
