On the diesel front if ever a marine version of an engine such as this hit the market for small boats it could be on to a winner with great fuel consumption and a spread of power from low RPM right up to a very useful for boats 5200rpm and 201hp and 369lb ft torque all from 2143cc ... not bad in the car either

Then you might like the new VW marine TDI 350-8.
4.2 liter, 350hp, i think it was max torque at 1900 rpm and revs to 4200.
It’s rumored they will do a 400hp version soon. Don't know the price will be expensive. They also have a new 6 liter V10 diesel in the pipe line.
