Roger Trotman - most likely 1980?

Never realised the design was that old! Any idea how many of the 25's like mine there are? Never seen others than mine and blowjob!

True, I always assumed the R25 was designed after the P25, around 1990. God knows why though!

025

025 The Mit was the first design for Sloggett from Shead Design. It was built by Gordon Wright in 1980 and raced by E.Goodwin in 1980/81 and then became the `Isle of Eigg Ferry `as raced by Keith Schellenberg in the RB84.
So basically you could say it was the first of Sloggett`s Revenger boats. There were about ten racing 25ft Revengers built.

Also "Still Crazy" No. 111 the Velocity 30 in the picture in my earlier post has just found a new owner after sitting unloved in a Florida Boat Yard for many years. Its nice to know our cousins across the pond are just as misty eyed and nostalgic about old Race boats as the Brit's.
The record breaking Velocity was indeed a 30 powered by a couple of sbc turbo motors.

Steve Stepp was quite friendly with the crew of 'Still Crazy', Dick Fullam and Mike Poppa. Sadly, they were both killed when they replaced their Class II (M Class) Velocity with a cat. Steve rightly or wrongly hates cats and says he won't even get into one. At least that was his opinion in 1997 when I met him and his cousin Hurley Stepp. Hurley was a Class I throttleman and tragically was also killed in a cat during a race a few years later.

Sibling rivalry?

Not sure where I found the HFS pic but I think I should credit either Graham or Littlenige.

Revengers

The Mit was a one off,if that is what you were referring to Capt`n,otherwise the production boats were as listed, as far as I can make out.Still can`t be sure what TFO was ,despite all the diatribe on Boatmad.I don`t think anybody really knows for certain.Note a certain M.Lloyd esq to open his cheque book for one of the first boats.

All I know is, that 93mph Velocity32 struggled, and very rarely managed to beat Roger Severy's 74mph Phantom 28 cruiser 'Wentworth Auto & Marine" when the waves came. In fact, in Rogers first ever race in his 28, he made the V32 look a little silly in the 'Torbay slop'.

Roger led for a good part of the race, then 'got lost' with a nav error, ending up half a lap behind, but caught up again to take the win by a 1/4 mile or so. I say win, he was actually in the class below the Velocity. The bastard lapped us that day! Roger was definitely 'fast fast' when it blew.

Ben also ran in Mr Noisy on & off for many years, and I know he's very fond of that boat indeed. Reckons it's one of the softest riding boats he's been in. They're very 'old school' offshore.
We (Reefer Racing) ran a couple of 32s. First was a twin Volvo 8.2 Gsi DPX boat and the second a purpose built race single engine 32 with various big blocks by Express Marine. All the Express engines except for the C & G Cobra 572 they rebuilt for us were 800-900 hp. The Cobra was just under 700 hp. We (Saber Marine - Reefer Racing) previously had two V 26s - a twin and a single.

The yellow single engine 32 handled the 'Solent slop' just fine. It was when it became really rough that it suffered, a result of its hull design and that of all Velocity boats. The pad and notched transom that allow the hulls a 5-10% speed advantage over a conventional 24 degree vee also has its downside. The boats must be driven on the pad to attain the speed advantage. They can do this in moderately rough conditions as the boat will get up on top and go. However, if it is really bumpy, the boat comes down off the pad and the speed advantage is lost. It is then at a disadvantage due to its 22 degree deadrise versus the more conventional 24 degrees.

Mr Noisy's hull is different from that of the later 32s (which are really only 30' - well that's not true either, both the early and later boats were/are 29'11") in that its chines are not radiused and the pad is different in shape. It is softer riding than our 32s but the yellow 32 was better balanced. The original 30 was designed with small blocks in mind. Conversely, our white twin engine 32 was very stern heavy and it was eventually converted to a single also.

Nice fight between the Revenger and the Ring. But I don't think that the Ring has been lapped. It seems to be a pretty fast boat...
Thats a really good video! That Ring is certainly fast and flies pretty level too!

Really like the colour schemes on it too... a bit different

Er - between our four boats, a 26 we supplied to a customer in Jersey and Mr. Noisy, about 1,200 or so.

I believe that Jersey one is over here now, did it have twin engines? You should see it now, it's in an appauling state!! Both engines are apparently knackered, and the interior/exterior is green and fooked too. Such a shame!

Yep, had twin Merc 350 MPIs. It was quite a nice boat when new with just about every option Velocity had to offer.

So far as I know, only two twin engine 26s were ever built. Ours, the first one had OMC 5.8s with King Cobra drives!!!

I was at Cowes doing safety when the picture of that RIB ( pic 3 ) was taken.

If I remember correctly that and the following two shots were taken by a French photographer while it was doing a 360! Right place at the right time!

We had towed that boat back in on the previous day when they had prop issues
