Boat is now stipped out of all "add ons" and has been ground back to a sound surface inside, all extra bulkeads are gone with the exception of the 1st one, which was the halfway baffle on the bow tank. This will not be the end of the bow tank, and still give me approx 100-150ltrs.

Once its been cleaned thouroughly I was going to fill the voids, then add a centre keel line stringer (one more than scorpion have anyway), possibly two small outer ones, over laminate, then skim the whole area in balsa or foam, and laminate over everything.

The balsa or foam will be in the running surface areas only, to beef up (the one less layer) lay up to beyond standard Scorpion.

BUT which one to use, balsa or foam score board???

The house took priority. Last week I removed another 10kg of bad repairs, mixed materials, formed around plastic. I have ground the inner hull as smooth as possible.

A small spray rail line remained inside, so I have used west systems epoxy and filler to level the spray rail lines, Two coats of 450g bi-axi overlayed the filler.

In the bow tank I have faired the hull inner surface. Filled spray rails again. I then coated the hull area forward of bow tank bulkhead with undulated epoxy, allowed it to become tacky. Mixed microfibres and colloidal silica into a mayo and bedded it onto keel line. I brushed unduted epoxy over pre cut lengths of balsa core 3/8", and forced rest of the mayo mix into the scores of balsa. I have bedded this down, filleted around edges and overlayed with 2 450g bi axial.

The bow tank bulk head was strongest part left upfront so it has had old hole repaired from the previously added stringers, then I have put a 1/2" closed cell foam bedded onto and glasses over.

Next is to lay balsa in entire running surface.

I will take some pictures but the peel ply is hiding a lot currently and keeping it clean, so I will leave it there till its time to add extra layers of epoxy as a barrier coat

Finally a few pictures. Tend to be all sticky so dont get the camera out.

Bow tank bulkhead finished and plumbing bonded in place.
Bow tank floor balsa bonded and filleted and covered in cloth. Core material taken out, holes oversized and filled with cabosil and microfibre blend to stop crushing. Screw holes tapped and will fastners will be bonded underneath
main locker balsa bonded and coated. Sanding and smoothing rough edges ready for fina coating.

When deck goes down I will bond bottom of deck, down stringers and over balsas skin
