Spotted at a secret test site today....

Tests seem to be going well on the prototype of the new canal-class submarines. How to avoid paying the Thames fees in one esy lesson....

..Anyone recommend a decent bilge pump?

No idea mate! It was fine when I last walked past it on Thursday, then like that on Sunday.

Looks like someone left the seacocks open, if narrowboats have seacocks, that is (?) and a coolant pipe popped off.

Scary thing is, it's one of their brokerage boats, and someone bought it last week for £28,000. The new owner is supposed to be picking it up next week!

Shame really, as it's just had a refit and looks really nice inside. Wood floor, little halogen spots, the lot. Ouch!

I think the grey thing on top was the liferaft that the crew were abandoning to after putting out a Mayday.

They must have been taken off by helicopter and deposited on the strip of grass in front of the Beefeater next door.

The perils of inland navigation, eh? Imagine being cast adrift in your lifeboat, nothing below you but four feet of water, at the mercy of the swans and sometimes going for twenty minutes without sight of another human being.

Thanks heavens for the River Ouse lifeboat and its volunteer crew. Some of whom are also active members of Norfolk's Mountain Rescue team.
