Let me try and help the 1st Achilli pic 1 was a the same Babycresci/Taxi/Outsider.
was sold after 1990 Monaco to Giancarlo, became Powermarine and Giancarlo fitted her with canopy.
Stefano had in 88 Ellesse (I got name wrong!! quelle surprise) was to have been sold to Rosetti (Imterscavi) but fell thru and Giogio Leonetti bought her.
Ellesse was not Outsider/Taxi

All the Stains looked the same and were!! main difference being a slight roll on the decks and the capsules!!

This was all during my time with Achilli and often working out of Turino.(Stain)

Ellese was originally built for a guy from Milan whos name fails me, but he spent every race stuffing his face and weighted about 18 stone!!!!!!!!!!!

Euromarche Cougar

Here is another wobbler.Sure the fin on the boat makes it Euromarche (J.P.Fruitier),then Ferrari Shipyard (S.Iemulo),then Mr.Rodgers (P.Villanova then R.Berthault - France),but then we have the statement it was maybe was an Achilli boat.OK the greenhouse style canopy has shades of the second Achilli boat but the two boats do look different, and the racing dates don`t tie in either. It all smacks of people`s vague recollections.Old Marco would have this cracked, being on his patch.

Mr Rodgers was the cougar Rocky/Euromarche which is to my knowledge the only cougar which was a dog due to JP Fruitiere building the "green house"
Reporter and Rocky were 1988 and Reporter a re-built Sal Magluta cat

Damn Outsiders

Just to make it really easy, there several outsiders.

Outsider Taxii (Yellow/White) - Babycresci
Outsider (Green/Yellow) -Ellesse -Tre Gazelle - Lotto Ottavani

Sorry I just can`t see how Ellesse became Ottavani.Ere, there was Lotto Ottavani and Ottavani two different boats.Ha Ha!

Was that the 1990 World Cup GC was in?

Ferarri Shipyard

Quite so (ex reporter),but this was the second sponsor for Euro marche before Mr.Rodgers. 2 different boats with Ferrari Shipyard sponsorship.
I have you in the madhouse before the nights out.

been there for years Graham.
Ellesse was NOT (99.9%) ex Outsider as there was only one outsider!
Tato Bardelle's secont boat was "americanino Jeans" built for worlds in 90 monaco.... there was a World Cup in Puerto Cervo in 90.
Corbelli did come to Atlanta in 89 when Siama ran as Italia 90.. maybe this is what is confusing the litle grey cells!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ellesse was brand new boat in 88 after SC and "cigar man" parted company.
Reporter was was Stevie in 88 and eventually became Ferrari Shipyard.
Rocky?Euromarche the Cougar became Mr Rodgers after released from being impounded afetr JP went on an enforced holiday!! Vilanova bought here, he did a season with Achilli........

Ferrari Shipyard

I know Ferrari Shipyard was ex-Reporter etc,but the Ferrari Shipyard I refer to is when Euromarche was replaced by Ferrari Shipyard sponsorship before becoming Mr.Rodgers.
I would need to go back to my reference books but from what you are saying the yellow an white outsider is the same as the green and yellow one with Babycresci a new boat and not ex-outsider,which is different to the info I gleaned from various reports. What a mix-up.

Stain Boats

Just had another thought Tim.Back April last year Marco did a comprehensive diatribe on the stain boats on offshore only and I kept it for reference.Looking through it ,it agrees with all my original findings,so according to your info we are both incorrect, which surprise me because Marco is usually spot on.You have a look in the classic boat forum it`s very interesting.

1989 Brand new cougar Rocky/Euromarche would become a SECOND Ferrari then Mr Rodgers with Vilanova...................................RIGHT?
Wish I'd never given A W all my books etc.

Stain History

Good Maurning,Tim.Nicely unscrambled I take it.Not sure how you work this but the ref at bottom of the page reads as follows.
http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...140517&page=11

One thing if you get into it that I have noticed on having another read is that he seems to be saying that Achilli No2 was new along with Ottavani,They both look the same ,.so I wouldn`t be able to prove otherwise.I`ll just sit in the deckchair while you gently work up a head of steam.

I`ve just noticed at the top of the page is the thread title (what happened to all the tin boats) as started by Little Nige.It was in the classic boat forum section.

How Achille Looks Today

I don't think this looks like the old Rocky, although I might be wrong. As I said the photos are crap. Ciao says it cost him 1p plus tax to get to Malta. That's cos he got remsioners special rate.

Ok so basically I got it right, the only difference being is that the "2nd" Tato Bardelle boat which became "Sun/Ellesse" he never raced and Stefano bought it end of 87.
Bottanelli raced with Leonetti or vice versa, so that's that sorted!
Yes that is the old cougar/rocky/euromarche. so sad to see her in such a sad way.
Sowmewhere you must have a pic of the "power Marine" cat (1992) of Giancarlo Corbelli THAT IS THE original "Achilli Motors" won quiet a few of the Class 1 speed trials that year...................

In the Guernsey 91 speed trials if I recall the cats were running between 112-118mph does that sound right for the time

Out of interest what were the rules then ie... min weight etc think 16.4ltr petrol was limit but diesel not sure

Sounds about right baring in mind that the boats are race ready, unlike when we were testing and pulling top 120..
The best speed we did with achilli was 131.........................knackered 2 engines and took 3 miles to get her up on the plane!! at Ravena

Unusual to see an external tie bar used on a cat with arnesons. They were usually the internal hydraulic affair.
