just watching the famous 4 hour compilation of CTC videos, and it shows Ultimatum 500, being driven by James Tangey.

Referring to 'Searace' isn't cheating, it's legitimate research. At least that's how I justify my usage of it.

I'd love to see the 'Ultimatum segment on the video, I've never seen any footage of the boat.

Picture of Tim Powell taken around the time he was racing 'Canadian Moppie'.

Jeez, time's been unkind to poor old Tim.

Sadly, the bit in my video only shows 'Ultimatum' broken down, with the engine hatch up.

However, this video, that I think belongs to Ray Bulman, has 4 hours of the worst quality TV recorded C-T-C coverage you can imagine, kinda like a 50th generation blue movie quality, but it is quite unique.

I have run off a few DVD copies, so if you have a player that'll play a DVD-R, or your PC will suffice, I'll post you a copy if you like.

That would be great if you could. Thanks.

And speaking of stand-up bolsters in a low freeboard boat -

...crazy, that boat features in the video too.

It covers many years of the race from '61 to 80 summat. (with typically cheesy English commentary)

The year was 1972.

According to the caption with the pic. the engines were 140s.

Any idea of the make of boat?

makes me wonder how they held the gearboxes together riding on the props like that.

its hard enough keeping the sportsmasters running 100% on my 2 x 280EFI's

That's half the reason, the very best those in line 6's would have been is 135hp (propshaft)
