Hilary Chitty

Posted on 27/01/2014
It is with deep regret that we have to report the passing of Hilary Chitty, a very sad day for anyone who grew up with the sport in the 1960′s. Without doubt Hilary along with her late husband John were the driving force behind possibly the most successful club in the offshore world the Offshore Powerboat Club. The Chitty team were the brains and management behind many of the top races of the day and will forever be remembered for the 1969 London Monte Carlo which without their meticulous planning would not have taken place.

Hilary will also be fondly remembered for some magnificent photographs of the sport which filled the magazines of the day…a great loss to the sport and to all who knew her.

Funeral details will be advised when known.

Mike,

John & Hilary ran the London to Monte Carlo race in 1972.

Martin Napier has already posted the sad news on this forum.
