150 optimax running problems

Hi folks, I have been having issues with a 150 opti all season. The boat has lay up for a few seasons with just the ocassional run on the muffs to keep things right. However on re commissioning this year the engine will start and run ok up to about 2000rpm then after this when applying any amount of throttle the engine will surge and in worst cases actually almost stall to an idol. To date we have refreshed with new fuel, changed fuel filter, plugs, and drained the lower bowl a few times. Is it a matter of DDT time at a stealers or can any kind sole offer a solution.

Do you have the opti hooked up to Smartcraft gauges ? If you do any fault readings ? Next you really need to read the faults stored on the ECM so yes DDT to point you in the right direction. There is a free to download operations manual on line if you google it that will help you if you don't already have 1

I had a bogging down problem early this year, changed all fuel lines and had water/fuel in the breather pipe from fuel tank & changed fuel filters, this sorted the problem. Optimax are known to go through direct injectors I had to replace one this year, they are expensive and you need to buy new as the seal can expand if exposed to air then they won't go into the head

No it would display an issue for example injector fault ! No codes from Smartcraft, when mine was bogging down no fault messsges on the Smartcraft so could be fuel starvation related, still worth hooking up to a DDT, I was charged 1/2 labour to run the DDT on our opti when we had a bad direct injector
