2.4 Carb Convert to EFI
What is the backgound on converting a 2.4 Carb to an EFI.
Required parts for the conversion, I assume it would be the same setting it up as a standard EFI 2.4 once the bits are swapped over. ??? Or is is slightly bastardised in some way ?

I think you would have to swop the whole front half over as 2.4EFI's are a 7petal reed setup unless you want the XRI version which wouldn't have any benefit over carbs

So in theory then it would be the same as setting a standard (so to speak) EFI rather than any customised settings due to the swap over. lovley jubbley, cheers Burty

plus you may have to increase the compression slightly as the BP would have had more

Burty is correct the centre horn EFI setup is 7 petal, but so is the carb setup on a 2.4 Bridgeport. However the centre horn EFI motors are crank case injected so you would still need an EFI front case half. to run a centre horn setup.
The Laser EFI's have the injectors in the manifold rather than the front case half. The 2.4 XRI Laser EFI's were 5 petal so you couldn't fit that but you could possibly run the Laser EFI from a 7 petal Promax. For out right pace it wouldnt be any better than the carbs and I would have thought it would be hard to get it all setup right. It may give better fuel consumption and a nicer idle etc. though.
To be honest all that sounds alot like hard work, I would stick with the carbs!!! If you really must have EFI though then the best options would be to get a BP EFI front half and centre horn setup or run MAD EFI (also not crankcase injected) with your front half.

Bridgeports
are 5 petal as far as I know, carb and efi.
Std. 2.4's can be either 5 or 7 petal. My BP has a 7 petal std. 2.4 front half on it and I'm changing to 5 petal efi.

carb to EFI
We did this 10 years ago with an XR2 when formula 3 ski racing was being dominated by Belgium F1 blocks. Neil Holmes ripped its guts out installed 2.4 crank and rods plus injection, took us forever to get the right efi unit though. Bolted it on a red 20 Ring made special for me by Mike, very fast, broke the skier mind!!! I sold it and it got sold again.Still around but the efi got trashed and it was never as good.Having said all that not sure if its worth the effort to a 2.4 motor.
