different block i believe, I'm sure the likes of scotty will tell you all the details. But I think the main difference is the alternator fixing.

different map n'all I'd assume as the later ones are advertised as being more powerfull.

The gen 2's rpm limit is 7000rpm so you gain 250 rpm over the gen 1 which rev to 6750.
Alot of foreign competitors were getting gen 1's mapped to rev above 6750 (Apparently 7200) and also producing more bhp.

Its a lot of things that are different on the gen 2. Obviously the map is different on the ecu and the rpm limiter is raised to 7000. They produce there power at a higher rpm as opposed to the gen 1 which were abit more "torquey" low down.
It has different cylinder heads and spark plugs, different ignition coils, the fuel and air rails no longer have water cooling, the compression is approx 10-15 psi higher, the compressor has an aluminium pulley and is bolted to the block better. The compressor outlet goes straight out of the cowling rather than into the mid-section. Im unsure if the pistons are different as i have'nt stripped my Gen 2 down yet as its not old enough. There a ROS motor aswell now so they are handbuilt and dyno'd/run-in at mercury before leaving. There are other differences but they dont make any difference to power really.
